What is My Fair Lady? My Fair Lady is a classic musical that first premiered on Broadway in 1956. It's based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, and tells the story of a Cockney flower girl names Eliza Doolittle who is transformed into a refined lady by a phonetics professor named Henry Higgins.  Prevalent Themes The musical explores themes of class, gender roles, and the power of education.
